    Hi,
I installed your WP Mobile Detector plugin on 3 sites.
    and tested these using

    http://ready.mobi/

the first 2 sites had your plugin ready
the 3rd site I tested BEFORE and then AFTER.
    the results are shown below:

    Money Market
(I installed this Plugin (WP Mobile Detector)
It will possibly display poorly on a mobile phone.

    Dementia
(I installed this Plugin WP Mobile Detector)
It will possibly display poorly on a mobile phone.

    BEFORE & AFTER:
    Grill Covers
It will definitely display very poorly on a mobile phone.

After installing / activating WP Mobile Detector
It will definitely display very poorly on a mobile phone.

Curious, I ran the same test on 2 external sites:
    1. Reuters.com
    2. Yours.

    Both came back EXCELLENT.
    Both I assume had been
re-written from the ground up for Mobile
meaning, I should do the same, or at least
create a new Sub-Domain for each,
    such as
    m.domain.com

    Your recommendations?
    Thanks,
    S.

Shelly, there is some sort of cache mechanism that ready.mobi uses. I have found that tool to be the best tool available, but not exactly the most reliable tool. Their results can vary at times.

The biggest difference is going to be plugins you have installed and the content of your website. Unfortunately with the way WordPress works is that one plugin can not modify another plugin or prevent it from doing certain things, which means, one of your plugins could be doing something that causes you to get a bad score.

To get a true understanding of your mobile performance, I recommend using Firefox combined with Firebug and a user agent switcher (so you can trick the site into thinking you’re a mobile device). This will allow you to see file sizes and network latency to see where the short falls are.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Eric, I had to turn off the plugin after updating to WP 3..3 I was trying to add a QR code but it was getting to many redirect errors. I removed the plugin and the site works fine on my android. It was giving a blank page unable to open while active. QR Stuff wrote:

A QR code containing your website address scans correctly and delivers the user to http://www.butlerwindowcleaning.com, however you have several re-directs within the coding of your website and that’s where the trouble starts.

The main culprit is a canonical redirect that takes people to http://butlerwindowcleaning.com (the non-www version of your URL) which then opens the home page of your website again (the one that was originally requested) and hence the safari browser message:

Safari: “Could not open the page, too many redirects”

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3320

When trying to view a website using Safari, you may see the alert message: “Could not open the page. Too many redirects occurred trying to open (website name).” This may occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page, which is then redirected to open the original page.

There’s also a whole heap of Javascript in your website that brings in the navigation elements and WordPress structures, and I feel that some of these may involve redirections as well.

Short answer – the error message is being caused by your website, not the QR code. You should talk to your web developer about resolving the issue.

      Jefferis,

Have you tried changing the mobile home page? Sometimes there can be a conflict of the mobile home page that causes a redirect loop.
